Enjoy live music while kicking back with a cup of coffee

OVER the past 30 years, Phil Vellacott has had the pleasure of touring New Zealand and across Australia with his guitar in one hand and a microphone in the other.

And now, Phil will be appearing at the Coffee Club each Friday afternoon from 5 to help you ease into your after-work drinks.

"I'll be playing lots of different kinds of music," Phil said.

"I try to play music that has been re-created over the years so different generations can relate to it.

"I'll play anything from pop to jazz."

Growing up, Phil had a love of all things musical, especially the guitar.

"I started off playing the guitar," he said.

"Until I got the confidence to sing as well.

"I've got a real love of songs with a story. I love ballads."

Phil has won many awards for performing, but he says he does it for the love of it.

"I have a few trophies, but that's not why I perform," he said.

"I perform because I love it."

Phil is also a guitar tutor and teaches kids all across the Southern Downs.

"I enjoy tutoring the kids," he said.

Phil said he always gives the kids the advice to realise if they want to be good at something they need to practise and they will reap the rewards.
