NRL on Darling Downs this weekend
RUGBY LEAGUE: The Brisbane Broncos push for the 2018 NRL premiership will begin in Toowoomba this Saturday.
The game will start at 6.30pm tomorrow after the main curtain-raiser between the TRL All Stars and South West Emus at 4.30pm.
Speaking to The Chronicle this week, Broncos second rower Alex Glenn said the team has been working hard in the off-season and is now ready to test themselves against the Gold Coast Titans.
"We've been training since mid-November and you can really see how excited everyone is,” Glenn said.
"Everyone is really pumped up and looking forward to game.
"Training is great and all the boys having been working hard but now we just want to test ourselves - we want to get out there and play a game.
"I'm really excited. I can't wait to pull on the jersey so I can get out there and play some good footy.”
Glenn said the Broncos will use their trial game to test a number of new combinations as they look to push for the title this year.
"We've got a few combinations we'll be testing in Toowoomba and it's an opportunity for some of the young blokes to push their case,” Glenn said.
Glenn said Broncos and league fans should keep an eye on Matt Lodge.
"I'm really looking to forward to seeing what he can do. He's big, creative and ready to play.”
Lodge will end his 966-day NRL exile when he lines up for the Broncos on Saturday.
