Oak Tree just fine for pair
WHEN Ron and Sharon Rankin decided to downsize they had one important condition - the door had to be thrown open to their canine buddy Bear.
Because of this, they chose Oak Tree Retirement Village, but it wasn't their only reason.
Mr and Mrs Rankin said they decided move to Oak Tree after an open day last November and soon afterwards sold their Warwick property.
"Our house was too big and half an acre was too much to look after," Mrs Rankin said.
"We wanted to be able to travel and leave it in security."
Last week they were excited to get their hands on the keys to their new villa and brand-new Suzuki Swift, which was a part of the deal.
Mr Rankin said he was enjoying how quiet the village was.
"And the staff have been bloody brilliant," he said.
While the Rankins said they were excited about the move (although less about the unpacking ahead of them) they would be taking every opportunity get away, with Melbourne the first destination on their list.
New village manager Jenny Brown also joined the fun recently after previously managing the Oak Tree Park Avenue village for several years.
Mr and Mrs Rankin said Bear had been accepted by fellow Oak Tree canines.
Oak Tree will host an open day April 1, 10am-2pm. Head to 12 O'Leary St for a free barbecue and to meet the residents.
