Oh brother, this star's very busy

NEW HOME: For Big Brother star Delilah.
NEW HOME: For Big Brother star Delilah.

DELILAH has left the Big Brother house, but she hasn't stepped out of the limelight.

The kelpie cross dog was a hit star of the reality television show for six weeks, after being selected from the Animal Welfare League of Queensland (AWLQ) Ipswich shelter.

She left Big Brother on Monday night to be rehomed with a Gold Coast family and step into her role as AWLQ ambassador.

In her new role, Delilah will rekindle her Ipswich ties by visiting the shelter that rescued her from a dangerous life as a stray. She will be at the Hooper St centre to meet fans from 10am to 5pm tomorrow and Friday.

AWLQ spokeswoman Brooke Whitney said the visit was aimed at encouraging Delilah's fans to realise the importance of animal adoption and rehoming.

Ms Whitney said the visit was well-timed, with the shelter's first birthday coming up on Sunday, November 18.

"Delilah's new role is to promote the personalities of shelter animals and encourage people to visit a shelter when looking for a new family pet," she said.

Ms Whitney said Delilah's appearance on Big Brother was a great way to raise the profile of all shelter animals.

"Many of our animals have just as much star quality as Delilah, and they are all waiting for a happy home," she said.

"There are dozens of breeds and even some Delilah look-alikes up for adoption."

Post-Big Brother, Delilah will work part-time as an ambassador, with plenty of time to relax with her new family, Denise and Terry Bradley and their daughter Sarah.

Big Brother housemates selected the Bradleys from a list of four approved applicants supplied by AWLQ.
