Hooves and Heels trail ride to support Warwick headspace
HEAD along to traverse the countryside on horseback or foot for the Hooves and Heels horse trail ride tomorrow at the Clifton Showgrounds.
Raising funds for headspace Warwick, the event will have sign-on at 8am for any participants who want to register on the day before riding off at 9.30am.
Manager of Warwick headspace Sophia McLucas said this was a first for the organisation and a great way to cap off events for Mental Health Week.
"We have a lot of people interested," Mrs McLucas said.
"The idea for the event came from the headway crew and our youth advisory group.
"A lot of them are into horses and thought it would be a good way to raise awareness being a country town."
The 25km trail ride, supported by Trail Riding Australia, will start from Clifton Showgrounds and head out to Nobby for lunch before returning to Clifton in the afternoon.
If riding isn't your thing you can also walk in one of two treasure hunts.
There are treasure hunts on a 6-7km cross-country course or shorter town course, both starting and finishing at the showgrounds.
"The Clifton Scouts are helping us out with the treasure hunt and designing the course," Mrs McLucas said.
"If people don't want to ride they're welcome to join the barbecue dinner at 5pm back at the showgrounds for just $10.
"It's something different that we haven't done before and I think it's a great way of raising awareness while hanging out with your friends and meeting new people and having fun."
Camping is available at the Clifton Showgrounds tonight and tomorrow for $8 a tent or $10 a van a night, with stalls available.
The trail ride is $40 for adults and $25 for under 18s, or $100 for a family of two adults and two children.
Tickets cover insurance for the day and three provided meals.
