One lane closed at the Gap

ONE lane of the Cunningham Hwy from Brisbane to Warwick was blocked for 90 minutes at Cunningham's Gap from 2pm yesterday.

Sergeant Jose Alonso, the communications co-ordinator at Ipswich police, said a prime mover and trailer driven by a Logan Village man went off the road near the helipad.

"The truck was off the road but a Warwick-bound lane was closed as police directed traffic for 90 minutes," he said.

The driver was not injured and police left the scene at 3.30pm.

Late yesterday, road closures were planned while the vehicle was recovered.

In a press release yesterday, Reconstruct South Coast said despite the huge effort required to carry out temporary repairs to roads damaged by the wet and windy weather ex-tropical cyclone Oswald brought in late January, roadworks on the Cunningham Hwy between Carter Rd, Aratula, and the helipad near Clumber would start this week.

Typically, working hours will be between 6am and 6pm Monday to Saturday, however to complete these works as quickly as possible, some night works would be carried out to remove the damaged surface, ahead of pavement repairs during the day.

Single lane closures and reduced speed limits will be in place.
