OPEN: New cafe fires up coffee machine on Palmerin St
TURNING gems from the garden into delicious meals was always a hobby Sarah Littleproud enjoyed, but now the former accountant is sharing her creations beyond her own kitchen.
Mrs Littleproud opened her new venture Little Gallery Cafe on Palmerin St this morning and will be hand-making sweet treats with staff member Holly Lubben for diners.
The cafe is attached Galleria Interiors in the space formerly occupied by Bryson's Place and then Babybird Espresso.
Owner Sarah Littleproud said she wanted to create a space where people could linger, chat and enjoy seasonal, fresh food.
"I love whole food eating and I don't think there's a lot in town,” she said.
"It's simple, wholesome food with an elegant twist.”
Jackie Robertson, the former owner of Frog and Swallow Cafe in Allora, is cooking meals on site.
The cafe will offer daily specials, with today's offering a salmon brandade, which consists of Australian Atlantic salmon poached in verjuice, flaked into a mayonnaise, dill, lemon and lime dressing to be served on a toasted sourdough bun.
Mrs Littleproud said the team were sourcing local ingredients wherever possible, with meat from the Darling Downs, Grove Juice and vegetables from Percy's Fruit Market in Warwick.
"I really want to bring people into town and increase employment, that's my goal,” she said.
Little Gallery Cafe will be serving breakfast, lunch, morning tea and afternoon tea Monday to Friday 8.30am-4.30pm and Saturdays until 2pm.
