Opening for more hockey players

PLAYERS are still needed for some of the teams in the 2015 Warwick Hockey Association season.

Fixtures started on Saturday with the four long-standing Warwick teams fielding men's teams and Corinthians, Saints, Wyverns and Harlequins/Scots fielding teams in the women's competition.

In round 1, Corinthians beat Wyverns 4-1 in women's hockey. Bryana McGowan scored three goals for the winners. Due to Scots PGC school holidays, the first Harlequins/Scots game will be played this Saturday.

Corinthians had a runaway win against Harlequins in the men's game and Wyverns won by forfeit against Saints.

Association president Gary Millard said a few new players had come forward to play for Saints on Saturday and more were welcome.

The Tuesday night mixed competition is expected to be a great success this season with 50 to 60 players indicated their interest in playing each week. Games start on Tuesday with all signed-on players and any potential new recruits asked to be at the synthetic field at 6pm.

Prospective players in all competitions welcome to sign up.

Players for senior grades can call Millard on 0427896241, juniors to Michelle on 0438179579.
