Origin walkers on way

MATT Rawle and his mates head towards the Southern Downs from 7am today as they embark on the Origin Walk for Life.

Rawle has a big Q tattoo on his bicep, such is his fanatical support for the Queensland Maroons.

The walkers leave the Wally Lewis Statue outside Suncorp Stadium and face a long walk to Aratula on day one.

Tomorrow, they aim to make it up Cunningham’s Gap to a bed and breakfast and then will walk to Warwick on Saturday for a social night and overnight stay at the Horse and Jockey and then on to Stanthorpe.

Originally, they were to walk out of Suncorp Stadium straight after the Origin game last night.

Rawle will walk all the way to Sydney for Origin Three and will be joined by a few Blues – Jordan Macey, Laura Jarman, Mark Thompson and Arron Rogers – for segments of the walk.

They have already raised $10,000 for Australian Red Cross, the McGrath Foundation and Luke Priddis Foundation (autism) and hope to boost the figure to $50,000. Anyone keen to support the walkers can just google Origin Walk for Life. The first item to come up is the Daily News story on the walk and the second is the website for the walk.
