King St's brush with fame as filming starts for TV show

IT'S not everyday a Gold Logie winner walks down the street in Warwick.

For sleepy little King St, today is the day.

Gold Logie winning actress Rebecca Gibney is rumoured to be making an appearance on King St for the filming of her new television series Wanted.

Likely to join her is co-star, Home and Away heart throb Steve Peacocke.

From 7am, King St will become a busy little film set - as it prepares for its moment in the spotlight.

For business owners on the street the excitement is building.

Art on King St owners Sue Keong and Jill Birtwistle have been counting down the days until their brush with fame.

The pair will have front row seats to the shooting, with their shop front likely to make it to national television screens when the series airs in 2016.

As a lover of the arts, Mrs Keong is so please the producers have chosen to shoot right outside Art on King.

"We think it just adds to the excitement of the town," she said.

"People will be talking about this for ages

"It's exciting and fun."

All eyes in town are on the lookout for Rebecca Gibney and Steven Peacocke, including business owners up and down the street.

"We've noticed a lot of people in the street that we've never seen before," Mrs Keong said.

"There's a lot of interest - lots of people walking up and down the street."

The Warwick Town Hall will also be part of the action, with film crews setting up a green room, make up and costume trucks in the car park.

Southern Downs Mayor Peter Blundell has described the filming as an exciting opportunity for the region.

"I'm sure the community will take great interest in the day-to-day operations of the filming," he said.

Locals wanting to get a closer look will have to be wary, with King St closed throughout the day.

Disruption for CBD businesses will be minimal, with traffic stopped for five minutes at a time during the day.
