Outback adventure drives blues into dirt
A KEEN group of 4WD and camping enthusiasts will drive the blues into the dirt in Warwick next week.
Doing it in the Dirt and the Gold Coast Camping and 4WDing groups have teamed up to host the first ever #DrivingTheBluesIntoThe Dirt event.
Running from September 9-11, the event will raise funds for beyondblue to tackle anxiety and depression.
Palmerin St will close next Friday to allow 45 4WDs dressed in blue to drive through the CBD from 3pm.
Organiser Camilla Fowler-Lock said the parade would end at Leslie Park, where there would be a sausage sizzle, coffee van, balloons, and $15,000 worth of prizes up for grabs.
"We believe in the 4WD mantra - you never go out alone and you never leave a mate behind," Ms Fowler-Lock said.
"While organising this event, we've discovered it's not only near and dear to our hearts, but many of our sponsors and people in the community.
"Mars Campers have come on board as our major sponsor, donating a Surveyor Camper Trailer to be raffled, and many other amazing businesses whose support has made this possible."
The family-friendly weekend at The Springs 4x4 Adventure Park will include a scavenger hunt, a 4WD gymkhana style event, mud run, hill drags and even a night run.
There will also be kids games and live entertainment by Kwozzi and Half Pint on Friday and Saturday night.
