Outlook fine and dry for weekend

FINGERS are being crossed throughout the Rose City that the weekend remains fine and dry for Australia Day celebrations.

Leading into the weekend there are likely to be showers on the cards for today with a top of 32 degrees.

There is a higher chance for thunderstorms to hit the Southern Downs tomorrow and Friday.

Tony Auden from the Bureau of Meteorology said there would be showers on the weekend but not for long.

"On Saturday there will be showers but they will clear after 20 or 30 minutes," he said.

"Sunday will be much the same but there is a higher chance of more rain.

"Thunderstorms will be around this week but should clear by the weekend."

Mr Auden remained confident that the weather would not affect celebrations in Victoria Park including the fireworks display.
