YOUR SAY: Community outrage at sentence cut

A year in gaol for killing a person, nearly killing another whilst driving disqualified, driving having consumed drugs all while committing other offences after driving for near 18 hours.

This is utter rubbish. 5 years in gaol is not sufficient for these offences.

How many years would a truck driver have gotten if they had of committed the same offences?

The community expects more than this from our justice system.

No wonder there is absolutely no respect for the laws of our land now-a-days.

Kill someone and get about a year in gaol. Ridiculous.

Utter stupidity.

The police officer should have locked her up an hour before when she was pulled over and issued a speeding ticket.

How was it possible a speeding, disqualified driver was let to keep driving to eventually destroy the lives of so many people?

I fell so sorry for the victim's family.

It appears that there is no justice in Australia any more.

- finga,

Warwick

Terrible decision.

Mum's life and daughter's injuries mean nothing.

- Dennise McKenzie

And they wonder why they cant stop people doing what they want... bet you any money if they had a clean record and did all of this they would have a bigger sentence then someone with a record.

- Lauren Stanbury

And people get more for spitting on a police officer wow.

- Addison Willcocks

So driving with a suspect driving record is ok?

What about the death of a mother and injured daughter?

Makes one wonder about these judges.

- Colleen Spence

Oh that's ok people die on the roads all the time.

Victims rights are insignificant, the rights of fair and just leniency to the perpetrator is paramount.

Just ask the civil libertarians

- Darryl Evans

Disgusting, my heart breaks for the family still picking up the pieces.

- Jacqui Davidge

I'm sick of these suspended sentences they are a joke!!!

Not everyone should be locked in jail that is a huge burden on tax payers.

I think house arrest should be used more often put the expenses back on the family especially when it's a non violent crime being committed.

But letting them walk free is just too lenient.

- Ngaire Hegarty

Totally disgraceful....I wonder how these judges sleep at night.

- Valerie Kelly

What a joke, bet she is laughing she got off.

I feel for the family.

- Gayle Lamont

Absolute joke.

They will send someone to gaol for steeling some money but let you walk free for ending someone life and destroying another one.

Appalling justice system.

- Sonia Ford

How wrong is that? No wonder people think not much of the law.

- Dee Hall
