Over 30mm falls in Warwick in past 24hrs and more on the way
RAIN gauges and water tanks around Warwick are filling up fast with 32mm of rain falling in the Rose City since 9am yesterday morning.
The bulk of the rainfall occurred between 1.30pm and 2.30pm yesterday, when about 20mm was recorded.
Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist David Crock said the rain would continue today.
"We expect that to ease over the course of today, you could see another 10-20mm today, perhaps more,” he said.
"There'll be a few showers around particularly tomorrow and towards the end of the week it eases off.”
Mr Crock said a south-easterly flow was combining with a tropical low to drive the rain to Warwick.
"All this moisture is being drawn down from the tropical low that has dumped a whole lot of rain through western Queensland over the last few days,” he said.
But from tomorrow conditions are expected to change, reducing the amount of rainfall.
"From tomorrow we move into a different weather pattern of south easterly on-shore flow, which is driven by a ridge of high pressure which is developing to the south,” Mr Crock said.
"There should be reasonably fine conditions into the weekend.”
A top of 23 degrees is predicted for today, before a top of 24 tomorrow and 25 on Thursday.
