Over 40s playing in Ipswich

GARY Millard will captain the Warwick over 40s hockey side in this weekend’s carnival in Ipswich.

Dion Phillips is vice-captain of a team which has been a regular at state carnivals for most of the past decade.

Some players have gone on to represent Queensland at the nationals. This year, Warwick players have again nominated for Queensland teams to compete in the nationals at Bunbury, Western Australia, in late September and early October.

Warwick has three games in the tough pool 1 in Ipswich today, one game tomorrow and depending on results, the possibility of more games on Monday.

Most of the Warwick side also plays in the Thursday night veteran’s competition in Toowoomba.

Warwick is currently second after a 3-1 win against Red Lions in its last game.

Millard, Phil Rolfe and Dave Jordan were the Warwick scorers. Don Battese and Rob Eastwell were two of the best for Warwick.

Tammy Zwoerner is the Warwick manager and umpire.
