
Overall winner close to nominated score at rifle club
RIFLE SHOOTING: Kevin Jones won the fly-shaped trophy for being closest to his nominated score at the Southern Downs Rifle Club Fly Shoot on Sunday at Risdon Range.
He nominated a score of 54 and shot 56.
The overall winner was club member David Taylor, who hails from Gladfield.
Twelve shooters took to the range from 600 yards to compete in a Fly Shoot for a trophy in the shape of a fly.
Shooters travelled from as far as Murphy's Creek, Toowoomba and Stanthorpe
The target was a fly on an A4 sheet of paper.
Five points were awarded for hitting a red dot in the middle of the fly and one point for any other part of the fly.
The Southern Downs Rifle Club shoots at 8am each Sunday at Risdon Range.
Registrations from 7.30am.
The club has four ranges to use, 300, 400, 500 and 600 yards.
The shoot on the first Sunday of the month is at 300 yards and the distance goes up 100 yards each week.
