P-plater caught speeding near scene of fatal crash

A DARLING Downs P plate driver has been caught speeding close to the site of a fatal accident near Toowoomba.

As a result he lost his licence and was fined $1099 after being pulled over by Allora police for doing 123kmh in an 80km zone on the New England Hwy at East Greenmount.

The young man from Warwick is on red P plates and was pulled over at 1pm Saturday near the Emu Creek State School.

Sergeant Des Canning, of Allora police, said the public should be aware police were doing a lot of patrols on the highways after a run of serious accidents.

"The driver on Saturday afternoon was pulled over near where a fatal accident happened a couple of years ago," he said.
