Palmer denies Senate inquiry is personally motivated

SUNSHINE Coast MP Clive Palmer has denied a Federal Senate inquiry into the Queensland Government is personally motivated.

Speaking at his Brisbane office Mr Palmer said he and PUP Senator Glenn Lazarus had already received a number of complaints from doctors, nurses, and lawyers about the LNP government.

Dubbing it the "Lazarus Inquiry" Mr Palmer said Queenslanders were concerned about public service job cuts, changes to the judicial system, and retrospective changes to laws.

In a wide ranging speech where he quoted Abraham Lincoln and William Shakespeare, Mr Palmer said he had no say in the inquiry.

"It's been hailed as my inquiry. I point out I'm not even a member of the Senate, yet what we saw in the Senate was the majority of Senators, of the Australian Senate, decided to vote for this inquiry," he said.

"Certainly it's not about me, it's not about things we've been doing, it's about issues. It's not about people, it's not about Campbell Newman, it's not about Jeff Seeney, it's about the citizens of this state.

"And as Abraham Lincoln said a long time ago: 'The Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from this earth.' I like to think that government by the people, for the people, for the people shall not perish from Queensland."
