Parry ready for state title fight
WARWICK boxer Kyle ‘Tank” Teer will meet Steve Wijangco in a televised bout over six rounds at the Greek club in Brisbane on June 3.
Teer, who is trained by Chris Fox, has two wins against Wijangco during his 50-fight career as an amateur and is having his second fight as a professional in Brisbane in the welterweight division.
Young 32kg boxer Paul Parry has fought his way to a state title bout after a meteoric rise to the top of his division.
He will fight a boxer from Bribie Island for a state title at Bribie Island on June 11 at an amateur boxing promotion.
Paul’s cousin Shane “Hurricane” Parry, the state middleweight champion, will fight on June 11 on the same card.
Britnee Wallace is likely to have her second fight in the 48kg division at Gatton on June 18.
Well-known sportswoman Katrina “Call me Cat” Harvey has excelled at several sports in the Warwick area and will make her debut in the boxing ring at Gatton in the 75kg division.
The Parry cousins and the two women are trained by Rodd and Roy Parry.
Warwick Boxing Club training is at the gym at the western end of Albert St each weekday from 4.30pm to 6pm.
Prospective new members are welcome at any time.
As well as boxing training each afternoon, there are also night fitness sessions at the gym from Monday to Thursday which attract men and women of all ages.
