PAW-SITIVE NEWS: Warwick dog park opens to public

IF YOUR dog's ears are perking up it may be because they've heard the off-leash dog park at Queens Park has finally opened.

Warwick dog lovers were disappointed to discover the off-leash park still under construction more than a week after its expected completion date of June 30.

Over the weekend the park was blocked by witches hats, bins were laying uprooted on the ground and park furniture had yet to be installed.

A spokeswoman for the Southern Downs Regional Council said completion was delayed by the delivery of park furniture but both Stanthorpe and Warwick parks were expected to be open to the public today.

Jason and Garry Heard were excited to offer their dogs a chance to play with their neighbours.

They brought Ricky the Southern Downs Ark rescue dog to Queens Park, where he delighted in greeting every visitor with a big smile and a request for a good pat.

The parks will be officially launched within the coming weeks.
