Pawned item fed child: defendant

A WARWICK father who pawned property that didn't belong to him has justified his actions by saying he was trying to feed his child.

Terrence William Pratt took a PlayStation 3 to EB Games on February 27 and pawned it for $140.

The console did not belong to him and was on lease from Mr Rentals in Toowoomba.

Pratt pleaded guilty in the Warwick Magistrates Court this week to fraud and stealing.

He told the court he committed the offence to pay for baby formula for his son.

The 18-year-old was fined $500 and ordered to pay the $140 back to EB Games.

No conviction was recorded.
