Warwick Pentath-run chases Steve Moneghetti

AFTER winning the Warwick Pentath-run in 2012, Olympian Steve Moneghetti will again be invited to Warwick for the May 23-24 event this year.

President Karen Gilchrist said Moneghetti was in town for the 10th anniversary Pentath-run.

"We invite him each year but he often has other commitments," Gilchrist said.

Monegetti won all five events when he competed. It was almost certain he was going to win the half marathon but some were surprised he beat many younger athletes to win all the shorter events and the 1500m in the Warwick CBD.

Gilchrist said there were 1300 nominations from individual events from more than 500 athletes last year.

"It expect at least the same number this year for our 13th Pentath-run," she said.

Events don't just happen, the first organising meeting of the year will be on Sunday.

Gilchrist was re-elected president at the AGM with Lorraine Burtenshaw secretary and Neil Burtenshaw treasurer.

The Pentath-run is five events over two days making up the 42.2km marathon distance.

It starts with a half marathon from Warwick to Yangan and ends with a 1500m run in the Warwick CBD. Events at Allora, Sandy Creek and Killarney make up an unique weekend in Australian sport.
