Pentath-run committee ready for 15th running of the event
THE Warwick Pentath-run group was establish 15 years ago to run the only event of its kind in Australia.
Competitors down the years have included everyone for five year olds to four-times Commonwealth Games medallist Steve Moneghetti.
Karen Gilchrist has been president of the committee for four years and loves every minute of it.
"We have a great committee and I meet a lot of wonderful people on the pentath-run weekend,” she said.
The Daily News Pentath-run, which will be held for the 15th time on May 20-21, has five events, a 21.1km half marathon, 4.6km cross country, 5km flat and fast run, 10km ascent from Killarney to Queen Mary Falls and a 1500m CBD run to finish the event. The five events total the marathon distance 42.2km
The committee meets monthly during the year and weekly for the final four months before the event.
Gilchrist is joined on the committee by secretary Kerri Roberton, treasurer Neil Burtenshaw, Di and Russell Werner, Nancy De Prada, Lorraine Burtenshaw, Margaret Trahair, Sonya Carr, Russell James, Georgie and Gav Stewart and Johno Felton. Committee members Neil Burtenshaw and Martyn Roberton share the role of race director.
