SHE'S a lady with a heart of gold and at the weekend you couldn't help but notice Sonya Carr's fluoro pink outfit.

"I normally run to raise money for breast cancer, but this weekend I'm running to get in shape for a big event coming up," she said.

In August Sonya Carr and a friend will run more than 200km to help raise much-needed funds to combat breast cancer.

"I'm very excited. We will run from Warwick to the Gold Coast in five days," Ms Carr said.

"I'm hoping to raise $5000 or more for the Killarney Breast Cancer Brunch coming up."

Ms Carr is a survivor of breast cancer herself and tragically, over the years she has lost her mother and her aunt to the disease.

"It's very close to my heart," she said.

"I just want to raise as many funds as possible."

At the weekend Ms Carr competed in all five Pentath-run events.

"I love running. It makes me feel so fit and healthy."
