Perfect day for spring fair at Allora State School

THE Allora State School Spring Fair was a great success on Sunday, with stalls offering a wide range of goods from jewellery, clothing, plants, face painting, games for the youngsters, great entertainment and lots of food.

There was a steady crowd across the day enjoying all on offer, with Mother Nature turning on her finest spring weather of brilliant sunshine.

Set in the picture-perfect school grounds, visitors were treated to a wonderful day.

Along with two pretty Spring Fair Sunflower Princesses, there was a special if unusual guest. Ky the Dalek was on hand to welcome the great many arriving at the gate, a step back in time for dedicated Dr Who fans.

Ky had been sited making his way to the school days before the fair and adopted a new approach: Rather than extermination, he now involves himself in raising funds for the P&C.

It appears Ky resides in the west of Allora, so keep your eyes peeled, I don't think Sunday will be the last time we see him.

The Bonza Bike give-away attracted a crowd of optimistic girls and boys, all hoping for the lucky key to unlock the free bike. The happy winner was prep student Matilda Lever.

The Allora Photography Club added a cultural element with its interesting display.

Organiser Shannon Sparksman said fair proceeds would go a long way towards Stage II of the new secondary shade area.

The P&C would like to thank the following sponsors who helped make the event another great success: Major sponsors Spinewise Chiropractic Warwick and The Railway Hotel Allora;

Also: Redback Cycles; Goomburra Forest Retreat and Saturn Electrical; as well as 4362 Therapy, Allora Advertiser, Alexia Linderman, Allora Butchery, Allora Grain and Milling, Allora Newsagency, Allora Pharmacy, Allora Post Office, Allora School Buses and Local Charter, Aussie Kids Karate, Cassaz Colourful Curls, Cobb and Co, Dan Murphy's Toowoomba, Danny Lyons Sports, Deb's Bakery, Harrison Family, Kmart, Leah's Creative Glass Designs, NAB Allora, Officeworks, Percy's Fruit, Toyworld Toowoomba, Vanderfields Toowoomba, WIRAC and Fraser and Rhiannon Clark (Ky).
