Picnic in Killarney bliss
BID what’s left of our sunny weather adieu with a picnic rug and a delicious feed of local treats.
The Killarney Picnic Basket Day takes place this Sunday, so grab a basket and bottle of wine and get out of town for a day in the sun.
Deb Bradfield is the organiser behind the event.
“You can bring your own picnic lunch or buy a delicious picnic lunch and afternoon tea, prepared and sold by our local volunteers”, Mrs Bradfield said.
“We hope people from Killarney and across the Southern Downs Region, as well as further afield, will come to help launch our first Killarney Picnic Basket Day.”
Visitors are invited to bring their own picnic blanket and chairs, and relax to a soundtrack of local jazz and country and folk musicians.
“We hope it will be a fun day for locals and visitors to experience the natural beauty of Killarney and the surrounding region, while enjoying wonderful local produce,” Mrs Bradfield said.
There will be a bar in operation and gourmet picnic baskets featuring local produce will be raffled during the day.
The day begins at 10am at Melrose Station, Killarney and entry is $5 for adults and free for under 12s, with funds to go to suicide prevention charity, Livin’.
