Pitch in and net a bargain on kids football gear

WHAT started as a hunt for a cheaper way to get a football jersey for his own children has turned into a home business for Warwick resident Tim Gaske.

Operating out of the home garage, Mr Gaske has amassed 500 likes for his business Facebook page in just two months.

As the director of coaching at the Warwick Wolves football development academy, Mr Gaske plays a big hand in junior football in Warwick and has turned his passion into a side project.

"I just got into it because it was coming into Christmas and I was chasing a few football kits for Liverpool," he said.

"I realised that there wasn't anywhere in town where you could buy the kits."

Mr Gaske had started a business selling kinesio tape and strapping tape at a very discounted price and decided to incorporate the football kits into his home business.

"I thought I might as well link that up with the sports tape," he said.

"I put it up on Facebook and everyone responded really positively.

"You go somewhere like Rebel Sports or Amart Sports and you pay $100 just for the jersey, I'm selling the whole kit for $60."

With most teams having multiple sets of jerseys, Mr Gaske said business is booming with orders coming from Hervey Bay, Gladstone and across New South Wales.

"I wasn't expecting it to be so popular but I guess for that price it's hard to go by," he said.

"Kids grow out of jerseys so quickly, it's good for the parents when it's almost half the price.

"Plus I can personalise the jerseys with the kid's names on the back for no extra cost."

Mr Gaske said he hopes the kits will encourage more children to find a love of the sport.

"I just like seeing all the kids at the ground with a kit on," he said.

"It gives them a reason to check out the big teams and gets them interested in the game."

Mr Gaske is an ambassador for the Reagan Milstein Foundation and for every kit sold $5 goes to the foundation

"It's a bit of a win for me and the foundation," he said.

"I try to support them when I can, last year the Warwick Wolves donated five boxes of old gear that went to Cambodia."
