Plan for portable cinema

GRANITE Belt Support Services (GBSS) could be the new minders of the council's portable cinema.

After the cinema failed to attract much use, the council considered selling it but in a report to be tabled at Wednesday's community services meeting, director Tony Minuti will recommend allowing GBSS to hire and look after the equipment at $50 a month with general hire still available to the public.

The report said the equipment had only been hired seven times since December 2010 - three of which were for internal use.

The recommendation has to be passed and ratified at next week's general meeting.
