Planes to fly in on Sunday

AS MANY as 100 aircraft are expected to fly in to Clifton on Sunday for the annual Clifton Fly-In.

Hosted by Lone Eagle Flying School and Darling Downs Sports Aircraft Association, the Clifton Fly-In has been operating for more than 30 years.

Lone Eagle Flying School chief flying instructor Trevor Bange said the wide range of aircraft on display was expected to draw hundreds of aviation enthusiasts to the small town.

"The number and types of aircraft attract visitors from as far as Rockhampton and Canberra," he said.

"The Clifton Fly-In has become an iconic event for the south-east Queensland area."

Visitors are welcome to walk-in off the street for the event, with no entry fees charged.

"The fly-in is open to anyone who wants to come and say hello and meet the pilots," Mr Bange said.

"The community needs to be able to see these aircraft."

The fly-in will take place from 8am to 2pm at Clifton Airfield, adjacent to Clifton-Leyburn Rd.
