Planning starts on shaping next show
ORGANISATION is under way for the 2012 Warwick Show, with the first committee meeting scheduled this Thursday.
President of the Warwick Show & Rodeo Society Neville Fanning urged everyone to come along to lend their ideas and contribute their visions for next year's show.
Mr Fanning said they need as many volunteers as they can get.
"We are encouraging people to get involved and help set up the show system organisations and help at the show," Mr Fanning said.
The society usually has around 300 volunteers throughout the year, and is looking to recruit another hundred to help with the show.
This Thursday, the show committee will meet at the showgrounds at 7pm to brainstorm ideas and formulate a plan for the upcoming event.
Mr Fanning said this week will focus on the organisation of the show schedule.
"The most important part at the moment is to get the schedule in place which we try and submit early January," Mr Fanning said.
"We are hoping for at least 20 volunteers this Thursday, that way everyone can have their ideas in."
The committee called for previous volunteers and new ones to join the team and Mr Fanning said they were thirsty for more ideas.
"Anyone involved in last year's show may have some new input or ideas they want to share," he said.
"We've got ideas and ideas for entertainment, but we want as many people involved as we can and then we can put it all together."
Mr Fanning said taking part in the organisation of such a large event has its benefits for the entire community.
"It gives citizens a chance to put in their input and the show is an important part of the town and to showcase the town," Mr Fanning said.
Volunteer numbers proved pleasing in previous years, but can always improve.
"The last couple of years we have been quite pleased with volunteer numbers," he said.
The more the merrier seems to be the attitude of the Warwick Show & Rodeo Society and with no age limit, all are encouraged to join.
The show is scheduled for the March 23-25 and show committee meetings will be held monthly until then.
