Players in gold ready for two Warwick hockey finals

HOCKEY: Corinthians will play in both Mid-Season Cup finals of the Warwick Hockey Association on Saturday afternoon and night at Queens Park.

Last week in men's fixtures, Corinthians had an 8-2 win against Wyverns and will play the same team in the cup final.

Chris Malone scored three goals for the men in gold last week and will be a key player for Corinthians.

Corinthians had a 9-0 win against Saints in another game, with Craig Windle scoring four for the winners.

Malone scored another goal against Saints to give him four for the week.

Matt Hagenbach and son Josh hail from Allora and each scored a goal for Corinthians in the wins last weekend.

Josh is now playing state hockey following in the footsteps of his father.

In the ladies' final, Corinthians will play Saints at 6pm.

Neither side had a game last weekend as a Warwick ladies' masters team played in the state championships in Townsville.

This weekend, the Queensland over-40 years men's team will be in Warwick to coach, train and play.

One of the visiting players is former Warwick player Scott Reid, who now lives in North Queensland and has played masters hockey for Australia.

His brother, Jamie, and nephew, Jake, have a lot of experience in club hockey in Warwick.

Jake is one of the young guns likely to be selected in the Warwick men's team to play the Queensland over-40s.
