Players sought for tray day

TONY Heffernan hopes to attract 48 players to Tray Day on the third Wednesday of each month at Warwick Bowls Club, Leslie Park.

Tray day is exactly what the name indicates, triples bowls where the winners receive trays of meat, fruit or a breakfast tray.

The event has just started and last month 32 players turned up.

Now Heffernan wants to spread the word and attract players from all clubs and anyone interested in learning to play a new sport.

It will be a bowls day with a difference as in the mixed triples event, play is divided into two games of 10 ends rather than one game of 21 ends.

Each trio and their opponents will move one rink after 10 ends which, Heffernan says, adds to the excitement.

“Rinks can vary a little which makes it more interesting,” he said.

The winning team is determined by the greatest number of ends won. If there is a tie, the winners are determined by highest score and then margin.

Names in by 12.30pm, play at 1pm tomorrow and each third Wednesday of the month.
