Playing a round to help our kids

PROVIDING free health-care services to children in Warwick and surrounds, Royal Queensland Bush Children's health scheme is a vital provider in the Southern Downs.

Speech pathology, counselling, occupational therapy and general health are the services the not-for-profit organisation offers, but the ongoing assistance comes at a cost.

This weekend, the organisation will hold a charity golf day and auction at the Warwick Golf Club to raise money that will go directly back into providing its services to the region.

Bush Children's psychologist Rebecca Wright said the golf day on Sunday had already been well supported.

"The community has been fantastic. We've just about sold all the available spots for the teams," she said.

A number of collector's items - including a signed Queensland Origin jersey, a signed and framed photo of Darren Lockyer, a World Cup shirt signed by Laura Geitz, a signed and framed photo of Greg Norman, a signed Cowboys jersey, a signed Dragons legend jersey, $1000 worth of jewellery, a signed Black Caviar photo, and a signed Queensland Reds jersey - will be auctioned off from 3.30pm at the club house.

There will also be a multi-draw raffle for a dinner for six at Grafton Rose BnB (or accommodation for two for out-of-towners); four services worth $120 at Beaurepairs, including wheel alignments, rotations and balances, and a signed Darren Lockyer Broncos jersey.

Just 200 tickets are on sale for the multi-raffle at $10 each, and are available at the golf club and Bush Children's Warwick.

The golf day will kick off at 8am with a breakfast at Frankies on the Green before registration at 10.30am for an 11am golf start.

Anyone who can't attend the golf day but who would like to bid for the silent auction can call Bush Children's Warwick on 4667 1200 during normal working hours.
