Plenty of action for 'V-Dub' fans
WARWICK will once again echo with the sound of Volkswagens as the VWMA National VW Drag Racing Series returns to the Warwick Dragway this weekend.
This is the sixth year running for the event and the 2011 two-day program has plenty of track action as 77 of the nation's best VW drag racers battle for the title of Top VW Shootout winner.
Warwick is round two of the series and the current series leader is David O'Connor, in his Beetle drag car 'Shrapnel'.
He won the opening round in Victoria in February and will make the long trip up from Adelaide to defend his points lead.
The program includes a street parade through the Warwick CBD and a static display in Leslie Park from 9.30am until noon.
The display and parade will give Warwick locals an opportunity to see some of the drag cars up close and personal.
Practice and qualifying then commence from noon at the Warwick Dragway, with racing starting from 9am on Sunday.
Admission is $10 per day.
