Police appeal to public over unsolved offences

IF YOU were out and about on New Year's Eve chances are you may have seen something that could help in a police investigation.

Warwick Police are appealing to the public to come forward with information relating to a number of incidents which occurred during the New Years period, including damage to a car and an assault.

At 1.30am on New Year's Day, police allege a person attending the Horse and Jockey Motel assaulted two fellow patrons.

Warwick Acting Snr Sgt Officer in Charge Lisa Self said one person is believed to have been punched, while the other was hit with a glass - which didn't break.

Meanwhile, across the road at the Harvey Norman Centre car park, a car was damaged by New Year revellers.

Snr Sgt Self said the white Holden Rodeo ute was damaged at around 1.50am.

"Someone has jumped on the bonnet and kicked the windscreen, causing it to break," she said.

Police are also looking for offenders who smashed a number of windows at a home on Wood St overnight on Friday/Saturday, believed to be caused by rocks from a slingshot.

Snr Sgt Self told the Daily News there were no firm leads on any of the crimes and police were relying on information from the public.

"Any information that people have regarding these offences would be the appreciated," she said.

Meanwhile, Stanthorpe Police are also appealing for the public to come forward with information in relation to two incidents during the New Year period.

Police are on the lookout for a blue and silver Mitsubishi 4WD Station Wagon, witnessed by staff at the Stanthorpe Golf Club damaging the greens early on New Years Eve.

Investigations are also continuing into a break and enter at M & D Autos in Davadi St late on New Years Day.

If you have any information on these crimes, phone the Warwick Police Station on 4660 4444 or the Stanthorpe station on 4681 6400.
