No charges yet after suspicious death of baby

POLICE are expected to release further information today after an 11-week-old baby boy at the centre of an investigation died on Saturday.

No charges have been laid and police would not confirm whether the boy's parents were suspects in the case.

No information was available yesterday about the nature of the baby's injuries, but the case has been treated as suspicious since police were called to the Koongal home on May 23.

The infant was taken to Rockhampton Hospital with life threatening injuries and transferred to the Mater Hospital in Brisbane soon after.

At the time, the area around Pilkington St and Lakes Creek Rd was cordoned off and declared a crime scene.

Rockhampton Child Protection Investigation Unit officers are investigating along with the State Crime Operations Command.

Anyone with information that could assist is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
