Police charge 10 after drug raids
DRUG raids across the region yesterday nabbed a total of 10 alleged drug offenders, one of whom has been charged with the serious offence of drug trafficking.
Police raided homes in Warwick, Clifton, Allora and Killarney during the operation, which resulted in 17 charges being laid.
A 54-year-old Warwick man was charged with the most serious offence of drug trafficking, after police allegedly found 340g of marijuana, cash and two bongs at his Locke St home.
He has been released on bail and is due to front court early next month in relation to a number of drug charges.
Two men were also arrested at an Oxenham St address during the operation, with both 30-year-olds charged with possessing drug utensils and obstructing police.
A 22-year-old Allora man, a 17-year-old Clifton teenager and four other Warwick people have also been charged with drug offences.
Warwick police constable Jim Doyle said the raids were part of an ongoing operation to target drug crime in the region and he urged members of the public to report any suspicious behaviour or drug leads.
"We encourage people to contact police and working closely with the public can result in these drugs being taken off the streets," he said.
Anyone with information on drug crime is urged to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000 or Warwick Police on 4660 4444.
