Police charge two men with drink driving

WHILE police were happy with the behaviour of patrons at the annual Clifton Cup race meeting on Saturday, two drivers were charged with drink driving later in the night.

Clifton police were joined by police from Warwick and Allora for a visual presence on cup day.

Police issued a notice to appear for drink driving to a 40-year-old Gold Coast man who was intercepted at 8pm at Clifton.

A Warwick man, 32, was charged with high range drink driving and will appear in the Warwick Magistrates Court in November. He was pulled over at Clifton at 12.20am Sunday.

Clifton police said overall they were happy with the behaviour of patrons at the town's annual race day.

"It was a safe and happy event," he said.

The Clifton Cup is the last of three cups on successive weekends, Warwick, Stanthorpe and Clifton.
