Testosterone-fuelled CBD fights keep police busy

THE streets of Warwick were flowing with testosterone over the weekend as multiple fights broke out around the CBD.

At 1am on Sunday morning, officers broke up two groups of young males who were causing a disturbance along Helene St.

During the initial argument, one of the males reportedly had his mobile phone stolen by a member of the other group.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the event for more information.

An hour earlier a 24-year-old Warwick man was removed from a licensed premises for causing a disturbance.

He was charged with disorderly behaviour, public nuisance and obstructing police.

At 2am a 22-year-old man and a 21-year-old man were charged at the scene of another disturbance.

They were both given multiple charges that included obstructing police and contravening direction.

A thief attempted to make a boozy getaway from a Palmerine St liquor store at 11am on Friday.

The 26-year-old Warwick man, who was allegedly caught by police with two bottles of wine in his possession, was charged with two counts of stealing.

A pair of young females and a 21-year-old man were allegedly found in possession of dangerous drugs at the Queens Park skate bowl on Saturday night.

The trio, who were stopped by police at 11.15pm, were charged with multiple drug-related offences.

One of the females, a 17-year-old, was also charged with possessing a knife in a public place.

A sum of money was stolen from a Locke St residence on Friday night.

The suspect entered via an unlocked door.

Investigations into the matter continue.

At 10.35am on Saturday, a 42-year-old Warwick man was charged with drink-driving. The driver was intercepted by police near Willowvale.

Though his blood alcohol reading was .047, the man was required to be driving a car with an interlock, which can only be operated with a reading of zero.
