Police officer bitten
A WARWICK police officer has undergone tests after he was bitten by a woman when trying to arrest her.
The woman, 48, was pulled over for a breathalyser test at 3.15am Saturday, where she then allegedly obstructed police and bit the officer on the right forearm, breaking the skin.
The Warwick woman was detained and recorded a blood alcohol level of .077%.
Police expect the woman to volunteer to undergo tests to rule out the possibility of infectious disease.
She was charged with serious assault, obstructing police, unlicensed driving, public nuisance and driving under the influence.
Earlier, about 1.30am, police intercepted a male driver on the corner of Dragon and Locke Sts behind the wheel of the same car the woman was later arrested in.
The 46-year-old Warwick man recorded a blood alcohol reading of .158% and was charged with driving under the influence.
