Police officer charged after blowing 0.061

A 43-YEAR-OLD male sergeant from Brisbane Region has been served with a notice to appear for drink driving after giving an blood-alcohol reading of 0.061.

The officer was off-duty and driving a private vehicle when he was stopped for a random breath test in Carseldine on April 21.

He has been charged with drink driving and is due to appear in the Sandgate Magistrates Court on May 5.

This matter will be considered within the Queensland Police Service disciplinary process.

A statement from Queensland Police said the information on the charge had been released as part of its undertaking to inform the public when an officer faces court proceedings and this did  not mean  the allegations against the officer had been substantiated.
