Police probe car fire

STANTHORPE and Glen Aplin Rural Fire and Rescue Service officers working the graveyard shift sprang into action in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The officers responded to reports of a burning car at 3.30am on Thorndale Rd, Glen Aplin, following calls from a resident.

The vehicle, which had been left unattended by its owner since the previous afternoon because of a breakdown, was found well ablaze by the time QFRS officers arrived shortly before 4am.

The blaze was quickly extinguished and there was no damage to any other property.

At this stage, police are investigating the cause of the fire to determine whether it was intentional or caused by mechanical or electrical failure.
