Motorcyclist crashes after pursuit

UPDATE

POLICE radio communications indicate the rider appears to have suffered only minor injuries and ambulance paramedics have been called off from attending the scene.

The rider has been taken into custody by officers and conveyed to Grafton Police Station for questioning.

POLICE have received reports the motorcyclist involved in a high-speed pursuit crashed just moments ago.

A passing motorist called emergency services to report the rider is lying injured on the eastern side of the roadway off the Old Pacific Highway near Musk Valley Creek, south of Grafton.

Police are travelling to the scene and an ambulance has been tasked to the location.

The rider's condition is unknown.

Just moments before the accident, the rider was clocked by police travelling in excess of 150km/h.

A MOTORCYCLIST is currently involved in a high speed pursuit with police on the Pacific Highway heading north towards Grafton.

Police have reported the motorcycle rider refused to stop for police at Halfway Creek about 11.10am.

The pursuit involving two highway patrol vehicles is currently 10 kilometres north of the Shell Service Station at Halfway Creek.

Police report the motorcycle is passing other vehicles and has reached speeds of 160km/h.

The pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns just before 11.20am near Eight Mile Creek, south of Grafton.

The motorcycle is described as being a Ducati Monster red and black in colour.

The rider is described as wearing a black parker with a silver helmet.  

Police have been advised to keep a lookout for the bike either side of Grafton.

More details will be released when they come to hand.
