Police respond to bomb threat

THE residents of a small street in the Warwick CBD woke to emergency crews at their doorstep after local police were alerted to a potential explosion yesterday morning.

At 8.30am a crew of police officers, fire rescue workers and ambulance blocked off one end of the avenue to approach the property and speak to the home owner inside.

"This morning police received information with threats in relation to a possible explosion," a police spokesman said.

"Officers were informed there may have been a risk of injury to the individual and other persons."

A short time later a man was led off the property by two police officers without resistance.

The man was then transported to the Warwick Hospital by police.

A spokesman from the Queensland Ambulance Service stated the man may have been threatening self harm however no one had been injured.

A neighbour watching on said the gentleman who had been taken away for observation was relatively quiet. "I have spoken to him once or twice in the past but he keeps to himself," she said.

Emergency service workers later confirmed that no explosive devices or weapons were found.
