Woman, 60, busted doing burn-outs in Goondiwindi

GOONDIWINDI police said a 60-year-old woman was caught doing burn-outs at the weekend.

She allegedly set out to "have some fun" and left burnt rubber and the smell of smoke hanging in the air behind her.

They said she had been "having fun" on Scudamore Rd about 5.20pm on Saturday.

Police said they caught up with her car on the Cunningham Hwy near the BP Service Station.

Officers alleged that there was a strong smell of burnt rubber in the air and they saw clumps of melted rubber lining the wheel arches of the vehicle.

They said burnouts, and other sorts of hooning activities, should stay on the track and not on main roads.

Losing control during a skid could result in hurting yourself or someone else, and it was not worth the risk, they said.

The woman was given a ticket alleging she wilfully created noise and smoke.

Her registration plates were removed for 90 days.
