Police search unit after tip-off from member of public

POLICE have executed a search warrant on a unit at the Parkhurst Country Club in relation to the search for two missing Rockhampton people.

Rockhampton police Acting CIB officer-in-charge detective Sergeant Nick Williams said the search warrant was executed about 6pm on Tuesday.

Sergeant Williams said police continued their search yesterday and were expected to do so again today at the caravan park.

He said the authorities were acting after a tip-off from a member of the public.

Rockhampton pair Robert Martinez and Chantal Barnett were last seen on February 28 and heard from on March 2.

Sergeant Williams confirmed a man had been arrested and charged at the caravan park, but said this was not in relation to the missing couple.

The man, 28, is expected to front Rockhampton Magistrates' Court today on four drug charges and receiving tainted property.

A caravan park resident, who wished not to be named, said she saw police cars shoot past her unit on Tuesday night and pull up at the man's unit a few blocks down from her.

"Then we saw our friend being led to a police car," the resident said.

"We saw these policemen and forensic crime officers with their gear and we were asking ourselves what is happening?"
