Police stop 'reckless' driver revving in main street
POLICE say they were amazed by the "reckless” behaviour of a man allegedly drink driving on Friday night in Allora.
Clifton police were surveying traffic in the Allora CBD about 5pm when the 23-year-old Dalby man pulled out of a licensed venue, allegedly speeding and weaving with smoke pouring out of his exhaust.
He was pulled over on the corner of Allora Dve and Herbert St, where police then breathalysed the man and allegedly found him just over the blood alcohol limit of 0.5.
He was fined $247 and received two demerit points for causing unnecessary noise and smoke.
He was also charged with drink driving.
Senior Constable Tyson Morris said it should act as a reminder to drivers to watch how much they're drinking.
"We were amazed to see the car leave the licensed property at that speed and revving their vehicle in the main street of Allora,” he said.
"You need to be mindful if you consume any alcohol that there is a limit. People need to be very careful when drinking, you may think you're under but you're actually over.”
The Dalby man is due to appear at the Warwick Magistrates Court on October 30.
