Police to hold briefing
A PRESS conference on the disappearance of Gail Lynch will be held at the Warwick Police Station this morning.
Southern police regional crime co-ordinator Detective Inspector Darrin Shadlow will address local media on how the search for the 55-year-old Warwick woman is going and what the next steps are.
Homicide detectives have been called in and search parties dispersed across the region to scour the land and waterways within a 15km radius of Warwick.
Mounted police searched the bushlands around Morgan Park at the weekend and a CareFlight helicopter searched from the air.
Southern police regional crime co-ordinator Detective Inspector Darrin Shadlow said police yesterday used sonar equipment and divers in underwater searches for Ms Lynch in the Condamine River.
A Queensland Police Spokesman said search tools such as these were not out of the ordinary in a missing person's case.
"You could almost call it standard procedure," he said.
"A high percentage of persons have been found in (rivers).
"The river isn't too far away from the area so it's within the search radius," the spokesman said.
He said the search parameters were generally decided upon on the day and even during the search.
"It's something they will determine at the time and based on information coming in will determine where and when they continue," he said.
