Pollies given the big boot
EVER wanted to see Abbott get the boot? How about Palmer and Newman? Well head out to Freestone Hall this Sunday to see dreams come close to reality.
APN political cartoonist Paul Zanetti has donated a pair of hand-painted, politically themed gumboots, which will be up for auction.
Zanetti, one of the many featured artists contributing to the boot auction fundraiser this weekend, said he was more than happy to contribute to the quirky Jumpers and Jazz event.
"I did it because it was a challenge, it piqued my interest and looked like something I wanted to do, I was flying blind and moreover I was happy to help as the local cartoonist," he said.
The full-time cartoonist said while the paint job took a few days he knew the personalities he wanted to depict right away.
"I would say Clive is my favourite character to draw at the moment, he is so erratic; he also takes up a huge amount of space so when cartoonists draw Clive they can give themselves an early mark," he laughed.
"Cartooning is like going to the toilet, sometimes you sit there for ages and nothing comes out, other times it just blows.
"The moment I get up I turn on the television and then put my undies on."
The Freestone Hall beanie and boot sale line-up includes 30 local stallholders and marketeers, an exhibition by local artists, warm food, games for the little kids and a bar. If you can't make it, bid for the boots online at the Freestone Hall Facebook page.
