Polocrosse carnival gallops into Killarney

THIRTY-five teams have nominated for the Gold Coast Polocrosse Club Carnival at Killarney this weekend.

Members of the Gold Coast club will be at Killarney from 9am today to mark the fields and prepare for two days of polocrosse.

Killarney Polocrosse Club vice-president Col Bloomfield said the fields were in good condition for the carnival.

"They are not as green as they usually are as we have had a few heavy frosts in the past week," he said. "The fields are still good for this time of the year."

Games will be played on five fields and a canteen and bar will be operating.

The Gold Coast will have dinner available in the clubhouse both tonight and tomorrow night.

Games will start at 8.30am tomorrow and Sunday.

It is likely games will be played in four open grades, mixed and juniors.

There is a small admission charge to the grounds. Killarney club members give the Gold Coast club a hand but the organisation is entirely in the hands of the host club.

Gold Coast initially held carnivals at Killarney when its own ground was wet but their ground has been taken over as part of preparation for the 2018 Commonwealth Games at the Gold Coast.
